Going back to homecoming and graduated between 1996 and 2006? If the answer is yes then there will be a great place to tailgate with fellow friends and alumni at this year’s homecoming football game. For the second year, there will be a tent focused on graduates from 1985 to 1995 and next to this “8595 Tent” there will be a tent focused on graduates from 1996 – 2006 in which ‘07 grads are also welcome. We already have two ’07 Class Hosts! Both tents are located on the grass in between Zable Stadium and The UC. Last year there were over 40 “8595” Tent Hosts/Benefactors and more than 250 people enjoyed the event.

The best part of the event is the cost… free! The cost of the event will be underwritten by the generous donations of time and money by alumni hosts and benefactors. Both tents are free and open to any alumni and friends. You are welcome to stay for ten minutes or five hours! Both groups are separately managed and funded, however working together in the planning process The “8595” and “9606” Homecoming Tents are also not officially part of the W&M Society of the Alumni; however we have been in close contact with the Alumni House to make sure we can work together on this venture. This grassroots effort is designed to give a place for any W&M alumni, specially the non-reunion years. A place to mingle, tailgate and enjoy watching some great Tribe football.

Since we do not charge admission, there is no need for us to bounce people or allot food or beverages. This keeps things simple and hospitable. Tent Benefactors make this arrangement possible. In addition to their host commitments, Tent Benefactors also contribute funds or make in-kind donations that defray the cost of the gathering.  

Benefactor levels are: Gold Level Benefactor $200+, Green Benefactors $100 - $199, the “9606 Tent” has an additional lower level of support due to its younger graduates’ age range, “Benefactor” Level for donations $25 - $99. All Tent Benefactors, both “8595” and “9606 “will be provided with a statement of revenue and expenses.
